HAWTHORN JUNIOR SCHOOL

WELCOME TO HAWTHORN JUNIOR SCHOOL IN CARDIFF

Hawthorn Junior School is situated in Llandaff North, close to the beautiful River Taff and Hailey Park. It is a small Junior School with one hundred and fifty pupils on roll as an average.

Mr Geoff Cresswell is the Headteacher and has been leading the school for the last eleven years. During that time, there have been a lot changes in education and in the way we, as a very child centred school, have moved forward.

There are currently six classes, two of which are mixed age range. Staff are friendly, dedicated and have real vision for each individual pupil attending the school. There are so many exciting things going on within the school day and after school. Children benefit from after-school clubs such as basketball, girl's and boy's football, homework club, computer club.... the list is endless!

We care for our children at a level which goes far beyond their academic attainment. The children regulate their own behaviour through jobs/roles that empower them and encourage them to act as mediators for each other. 'Respect' and 'value' are key words that describe attitudes they have towards others.

Hawthorn's Enterprise Afternoon - Thursday 6th April 2006

Please visit the school on Thursday 6th April as the whole school will have become a bustling business. You will be able to buy products that have been made and marketed by the children. Each class has set up its own business, and they range from craft shops to cafes, drinks bars (non-alcoholic of course), plant shops and newspaper sellers.

We are sure you will have a wonderful afternoon, so please come and support the school in this enterprise. We are open for business from 2:00pm - 4:00pm.
